and a key highlight of the event was the plenary session on Cinema Infrastructure:
Building India's screen and modern cinema infrastructure to create equitable entertainment
access. Shri Abhay Sinha, addressed the challenges faced by theatres in reaching wider
audiences and mentioned that multiplex ticket prices, often in the range of Rs 200 to
Rs.250, remain out of reach for low income groups, impacting theatre occupancy and
overall industry growth.
Shri. Abhay Sinha requested the Government to support the exhibition sector by
reconsidering taxes such as TDS and GST for theatres. He also proposed the
development of hundred seated cinema halls at bus depots and railway stations to make
movie watching more accessible. Additionally, he suggested the introduction of mobile
hundred seat theatres mounted on trucks that can travel to smaller towns and villages,
creating new avenues for entertainment access across the country.
The summit brought forward fresh ideas for expanding India’s screen infrastructure and
reaffirmed the industry’s commitment to inclusive and technology driven growth.
Thanking you,  Yours faithfully
